The Story Behind 810 Munchies

I, Steve Brewer, along with my wife, MacKenzie, started 810 Munchies because of our two autistic sons. Like so many families, we’ve been to restaurants where stares, whispers, and judgment turned a simple meal into a stressful experience. One night, after another uncomfortable dinner out, we asked ourselves:

“Why isn’t there a place where families like ours can feel welcome?”

We couldn’t find one — so we built it.

Our Mission

810 Munchies is designed for inclusion, comfort, and community change.

  • A judgment-free zone – Kids can be kids here.
  • Sensory-friendly design – softer lighting, calming space, and sensory items on tables.
  • Accessible seating – plenty of room for wheelchairs, strollers, and movement.
  • Custom meals – if your child only eats PB&J, grilled cheese, or needs allergy-safe options, we’ll make it happen.

Our Promise

This isn’t just for special needs families — it’s for everyone who believes in kindness and community. But here, families raising children with autism or other challenges finally have a space created with their needs first.

Why Dort Mall?

Some asked why we chose Dort Mall. The answer is simple: Flint is home. We believe change starts right where you are — and by building something positive here, we can be part of that change.

More Than a Meal

810 Munchies is about more than Coneys, burgers, and comfort food — it’s about hope, connection, and respect.

As Steve puts it:

“We wanted a place where every family feels welcome — and now, Flint has it.”
